Student Regents
The Student Regent is a member of the university's governing body, the Board of Regents, who works on behalf of the best interest of Baylor University through facilitating and communicating the views and interests of students.
There are two student regents, one is a voting member of the board and the other is a non-voting member. After the voting student regent's term concludes, the non-voting student regent is elevated to a voting position and the non-voting position vacancy is filled by an application process.

Current Voting Student Regent: Xavier Dawes
Mr. Xavier Dawes is a junior electrical and computer engineering major at Baylor University. He also is minoring in data science and mathematics. He plans to work in the aerospace and defense industry upon graduation.
Mr. Dawes serves as the vice president for Baylor’s chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. and the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and serves as an office assistant for the advisors of Baylor’s School of Engineering and Computer Science.
Concluding his recent visit to NSBE’s 49th national conference in Kansas City, Missouri, Mr. Dawes received and accepted an offer with Boeing as a systems design engineering intern in Seattle, Washington, for the summer.
Mr. Dawes’ favorite verse is Joshua 1:9, and he attends church at Antioch in Waco.

Current Non-Voting Student Regent: Meghan Fletcher
Ms. Meghan Fletcher is a doctoral candidate in higher education and leadership at Baylor University. She has earned two degrees from Baylor, a Bachelor of Science in child and family studies in 2020 and a Master of Science in higher education and student affairs in 2022.
A first-generation college student, Ms. Fletcher is originally from Minnesota and attended high school in Kansas. In addition to her academic work, she is the graduate apprentice for academic affairs in the Office of the Provost at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton and a graduate assistant for the McNair Scholars Program at Baylor. She previously served as vice president of operations for the Baylor Graduate Student Association and as the full-time North Village Residence Hall director at Baylor while completing her master’s degree.
During her time at Baylor, Ms. Fletcher has served on various committees (including the Baylor Emerging Research Conference Committee), taught and/or co-taught several undergraduate and graduate courses, and was recognized as a Rising Young Professional in Child and Family Studies in 2020.
She attends Mosaic Church in Waco and loves spending time with her community.
