Who Can Apply for SGAF?
The Student Government Allocation Fund (SGAF) is a financial resource available to student organizations or institutional departments seeking funding for events, campus improvement projects, equipment, furniture, educational causes, charitable endeavors, and more that create a university-wide impact and are reasonably accessible to all students. Typically, non-Baylor entities are not eligible to receive funding from the SGAF.
How do I receive the funding?
Receiving funds can occur via one of the following methods.
If the following options do not apply to your organization, we are able to assist after you submit your SGAF request.
- You are a student organization that has its own bank account that is set up for direct deposit in Baylor's financial system. Uncertain if your organization's bank account is set up for direct deposit? We can assist after you submit your SGAF request.
- You are a student organization with an approved partnership with a Baylor campus department that is willing to receive funds and pay expenses on your behalf.
- You are are a campus department that automatically has a Baylor account where funds can be deposited.
You must have access to a non-personal bank account (organizational, campus department partnership, etc.) in order to be approved for SGAF funding. SGAF funds can only be transferred to student organization bank accounts or campus departments.

Important SGAF Policies and Best Practices
- We advise that you begin this process at least 4 to 6 weeks prior to the event.
- Organization's do not typically receive more than 50% of their total need in SGAF funding. There are special provisions for certain circumstances that allow organizations to receive a higher percentage of funding, which we can inform you about after submitting a request.
- Student Government encourages organizations to provide their own funding, seek further sponsorship, and secure external financial support.
- The SGAF does not purchase assets for organizations to keep, items that are intended for resale, or apparel (e.g. t-shirts, equipment that remains with the organization, etc.). The SGAF will not furnish purchases that only benefit the or are only accessible to the requesting entity.
- Funds cannot be donated or transferred to a charity.
- Funds cannot be used for prizes or prize money.
- Funds cannot be transferred to another entity once they are deposited into your organization's respective account.
- Maintain documentation outlining all expenditures, as SGAF funding recipients are required to report after the fact to a) ensure funding was spent according to the request and, b) if necessary, identify unspent dollars that will be returned to Student Government.
- Additional policies can be discussed with your assigned Senator.

Background of the SGAF
The goal is for SGAF funding to be used in a way that promotes the interests of the student body and ensures that the needs of Baylor students are met. Student Senate appropriates the SGAF each semester on a merit basis to Baylor-affiliated students and organizations who are able to effectively demonstrate that their event, project, educational cause, or charitable cause will benefit the Baylor campus.
The SGAF is comprised of institutional operational dollars appropriated by the university. Student Senate has appropriating power as to whom this money is to be allocated. Individuals and/or organizations may apply for these funds. To do so, please click on the above link, fill out the form, and submit it online to Student Senate.
